About
Kith & Kin Philosophy
At Kith & Kin Interiors is a residential interior design studio in Portland, Oregon. We’re dedicated to prioritizing functionality first, then creating an aesthetic that enhances the beauty of your home. We love using reclaimed or vintage pieces, working with local makers, infusing spaces with color and texture, and crafting uniquely beautiful homes tailored to our amazing clients throughout the Portland area. We take your project seriously, our client relationship to heart, and the process is dialed in and hyper-organized on the back end, but the client experience is comfortable, enjoyable, and personal.

Amy
Founder, principal designer, historic home lover
Half of the creative duo, Amy, has a minor obsession with history and stories. She uses the home and her clients’ personalities to create a design unique to them and their physical surroundings. Her love of history and background in architecture give her a distinctive expertise in historic home remodeling that allows her to modernize homes without losing their original charm. For Amy, the most rewarding part of design is bringing a space to life that once existed only in her imagination. She believes great design is more than the sum of its part;, it’s a collected story that allows clients to see themselves reflected in their homes.

Katie
Founder, principal designer, space planning addict
The other half of the duo behind Kith & Kin, Katie believes that good design lives just outside your comfort zone. While her priority will always and forever be designing functional, practical interiors through thoughtful space planning (her experience in engineering makes sure of this), she loves infusing color and her client’s personality into each space. Finding the balance between comfortable design choices and stretching a bit is her specialty to create spaces better than clients imagined.

Our Story
We’re sisters by marriage, brought together by a childhood love of drawing floor plans and dreaming up spaces. We both took meandering paths to Kith & Kin, and feel so grateful to share our love and expertise of interior design with our clients.
Amy studied Architecture and History and taught middle school for 10 years (this is why she is so good with all the moving parts of construction – she successfully managed a classroom full of middle schoolers).
Katie worked as a climate change mitigation specialist for the US Forest Service Engineering staff. She spent her days analyzing buildings that gave her lots of experience working with floor plans and construction documents.
The name Kith and Kin — meaning “friends and family” — holds special meaning for us. It not only describes our relationship, but also reflects how we work with our clients: like trusted friends, like family. When you invite us into your home, we take the time to understand the intricacies of your daily life, routines, and household. The bond we build is part collaboration, part connection — and it’s at the heart of everything we do.
We happily design homes and work on residential remodeling projects in the Portland Metro area (Portland, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Tualatin, Sherwood, Beaverton, Happy Valley), and will travel for nice clients!
